This world famous tune was released in 1965 by
the Byrds even before Bob Dylan, the composer, himself
recorded it with his acoustic guitar and harmonica.
James, alias Roger, MacGuinn was the only member of the
band to be admitted by the producer at the recording
session. This latter was so uncertain of the result that
he had cautiously replaced all the other members with
studio musicians !
A few years ago Roger MacGuinn had the good idea to tab
himself the first bars of the tune and to publish it on
his web page. Unfortunately he did not go on and this web
page is today nowhere to be found. For me it was an
excellent start to tab the tune fully !
I tabbed 3 guitars and
the bass. In the intro and the outro only
MacGuinn's 12 string guitar is heard but I tabbed two
guitar parts, one for the "low" string and one for the
"high" string, thus played together or by overdubbing you
can hear the sound of a 12 string guitar as shown just
here above. The tab for the low string is the one I found
on Roger MacGuinn's personal page.
